Scott A. Williams
Partner

Mr. Williams is a trial lawyer whose practice includes civil litigation with a primary emphasis on litigation pertaining to real property, including defective construction, inverse condemnation, landslide and subsidence, real estate disclosure and insurance coverage and bad faith.

Mr. Williams' experience in construction defects litigation dates back to the mid 1980s when he was among the early attorneys who began specializing in the field. In 1998, Mr. Williams organized an advanced level program on the subject for the California Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB), and has since served as a regular speaker for what has become one of CEB's most popular annual programs. He has filed amicus briefs with, and appeared before the California Supreme Court in cases involving construction litigation, and has been involved with interested organizations as a speaker and contributing writer.

Mr. Williams' background in inverse condemnation dates back to 1980, when his successful appeal of an adverse judgment resulted in the published decision Marin v. City of San Rafael (1980) 111 CA3d 591. Since then, he has successfully tried several inverse condemnation cases, including a 10-month jury trial on behalf of 32 property owners in San Bernardino County whose properties were damaged in a flood disaster that was the subject of national media attention.

He has served as an arbitrator, mediator and Judge Pro Tempore for the Marin Superior Court.
